Do you have a couple of hours or more per week to spare? Many of the charities listed here depend on and urgently need volunteer workers. Please contact any of the charities below for further information.

British Red Cross shops sell a large variety of good quality second-hand clothes (many designer labels), books, bric-a-brac and many other items, with all profits going towards the organisation's work both overseas and in the UK. The Ellon shop is attractive and fresh with pleasant, welcoming volunteers to assist their many customers.

Donating: We accept clothing, household items (non-electrical please), small items of furniture, bric-a-brac, books etc. which are clean and in good condition. Please bring your unwanted items to the shop during opening hours. Please note that we are currently unable to offer a collection service. We can also recycle clothing/linen which you may feel is not suitable for sale. It would be beneficial to our volunteers if you could keep such recyclable items seperate from any other donated goods and let us know that they are purely for recycling. We sell our recycled goods to an organisation who will use what they can to send to third-world countries and everything else gets recycled into items such as dusters and oil rags. The money raised from us selling these recyclable items is added to the shop takings and, therefore, helps to support the Society in it's work at home and abroad. You can also donate money at the shop be it a general donation or a donation for a specific crisis/campaign. If you are a UK taxpayer, remember to ask for a Gift Aid card. Gift Aid is one of the simplest and most effective ways of giving to charity. It is a scheme introduced by the Inland Revenue, which allows us to reclaim the basic rate tax you pay as a UK taxpayer. That's an extra 28p for every £1 you give. This is at absolutely no extra cost to you!

Shop Volunteer Appeal: We are looking for volunteers to join the team at the Ellon shop. There are various positions available with roles which include sorting, steaming and pricing donated items; window and display design and serving and helping customers. We've also got some great new schemes for young volunteers, so they can learn useful new skills that will help with their future career prospects.
