Three to four miles north of Ellon you will find the harbour village of Collieston, with its safe and picturesque beach. It was once a thriving fishing village with a lively history of smuggling and contraband. Nowadays the local population of around 200 people has a vibrant cosmopolitan mix who have all been attracted to the village's charm and unique setting. Enjoying a safe sandy beach and other natural attractions, the village and its surrounding parish of Slains has a number of clubs and activities open to residents and visitors.
